I know there are some people that do not enjoy shopping. I am not one of those people. I thoroughly enjoy shopping. However, I don’t have much for resources at my fingertips. I have a Target about thirty minutes from my house and I love Target. They have a lot of great stuff – the basics, trendy items, classics, shoes, did I say shoes?! #iloveshoes. But to go to a mall with a good variety of retailers is an hour and fifteen minute drive from my house. Maybe a good thing if you ask Mr. MM! So I do quite a bit of my shopping online. Who doesn’t appreciate the convenience of being able to shop in your pj’s at 11:30 at night? Heading into a brick and mortar store where you can feel the texture and weight of a garment and see the true color without questioning if your computer screen is providing an accurate depiction obviously has its perks as well though.
Fitting Room Files is the in-between. Maybe you don’t have a particular store in your area or just don’t have the time to get away. I know I enjoy seeing what other women have been drawn to and I especially appreciate seeing how these items fit and reading what their thoughts were on the fit and the quality of the item. For some reason it is different than seeing it on a staged model on an online catalog and I am much more inclined to buy ‘sight unseen’ after getting the skinny from a real woman.
For reference, I am 5’2” and 105 pounds. I wear an XS/0 in most tops and a 25/26 in jeans. I am not particularly curvy in any area. My apologies for the poor lighting and cramped fitting rooms.
I was in Lafayette, IN over the weekend and found I had a little bit of time to kill. With a quick search I found that there was a mall just a few minutes away. I spent all the down time I had at H&M. H&M is a favorite for me, 1) because of the variety they offer from business/work wear to casual comfort and 2) because the price point of most of their clothing is at a level that if I only wear an item for one season before retiring it I don’t feel guilty.
Spring wardrobes and information on transitioning your wardrobe to spring seems to be heavily popping up in the blogosphere and on Pinterest right now. Mother Nature has done a good job this past few days however of reminding us that we are still very much in the middle of winter. Being the person that hates to be cold, I am still deep in the sweater-weather mindset. No spring finds here, but some good options to help you appreciate being able to don these cute (and warm) finds to get through the cold weather. I hope you enjoy, I had fun hunting for you!
I find that H&M clothes usually run a size or two small compared to most brands. I am usually a 0-2 in tops, but have to go with a 4 at H&M or they will bind through the shoulder/armpit area. I also size up in their jeans.
First up is a combo. These skinny jeans are the perfect shade of blush pink. I am wearing a size 26. This pair doesn’t have any stretch to them. As noted above, I am petite (short) and these were ankle length on me. If you are tall expect these to be a cropped length for you. The sweater is the perfect shade of gray. I am wearing an XS. The fit is comfortable, but not too loose to be frumpy. I’m not sure how it will handle washing, but it is very soft.
Sweater // Blush Skinny Jeans (similar) I could not find the exact pair on their website
This shirttail sweater is too cute. I thought it may have been a little rough or scratchy when I first saw it, but was surprised with how soft and pliable the knit material is to the touch. I am wearing a Small. A cami underneath may be necessary, as it was slightly see-through in brighter light.
Shirttail Sweater (only available in a dark blush online)
I found this sweater on the clearance rack for $7!!! I wasn’t sure about it, but thought it would be silly not to try it for that price. It ended up being my favorite find of the day! Notice the sleeve’s edge detail – isn’t that cute?! It is the hi-lo style, but is not drastically longer in the back, and it is super soft. I think I will probably live in it for the next couple of months! I am wearing a Medium. Unfortunately I couldn’t find this sweater on H&M’s website for you ladies, I’m sorry.
This off-white flounce sleeve blouse has a really nice drape and the material is just the right thickness that it doesn’t try to cling to the body. It would be cute tucked into a pencil skirt. I am wearing an XS.
I sized up to a Medium in this blush basic tee. I assume it will shrink when washed and I didn’t want it to cling anywhere that it shouldn’t after being washed. It has a slight sheen to it with a chest pocket and a rounded neck and hemline.
I guess I fibbed about there not being any spring styles! This dress was on sale for $10. It is another item that I was not able to find on their website. It is super, super soft. I love the top half of it. I wish it were a bit shorter (or I was a bit taller!).
And lastly, a dress that can be worn to work or for a cozy weekend at home. It is made of a thick knit that holds its shape well and helps to disguise any lumps and bumps. I also love the pocket detail. I initially grabbed a small, but it was cut really wide so I sized down to an XS.
That’s it for today! Happy Monday, I hope you have a productive, positive, successful week. If you like reading about clothing reviews check out this post on faux-leather leggings.
