Valentine's Vignette

February already, can you believe it! Not only February, but almost half way through. Craziness! I’m excited to share my February Tablescape with you today.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I haven’t figured out what I am doing for my best guy yet. He’s a tough one. He spoils me endlessly and coming up with an idea to show him how much I love and appreciate him is daunting.

I did manage to gather things for our ‘little people’ though that I am excited to gift them (I LOVE shopping for the people I love). Tara will be receiving my favorite pair of black leggings (they are so good!), I decided on a pair of wireless earbuds for Kadie (they have great reviews) and Chase will be receiving the book Zoo, from which the SciFi series is based. I also found Once Upon A Deadpool when checking out at Walmart and I had to add that to my cart for Chase. He is a huge fan (his sense of humor is a little off).

Valentine’s Tablescape

Valentine's Vignette

I started thinking about what my February tablescape was going to be as soon as I finished up the January Tablescape. To be honest, I couldn’t wait to transition from the heavier winter decor to something lighter and leaning towards Spring. I am ready for spring, but don’t want to jump the gun too early as far as changing out all of the winter decor in the house. There is currently snow on the ground, after all. Switching the table out is a nice transition.

Neutral Valentine's Vignette

I knew that going with the traditional red Valentine decor was not for me. Red is not my color, too bold and harsh. I started looking early for lighter, more neutral decor. I thought with that being a trend in general it would be easy to find, but it proved otherwise. A lot of what I used in this tablescape I already had on hand.

Neutral Valentines Tablescape

We are a big family and need a big table. I made this table several years ago (it was the first thing I built) from Ana White’s Farmhouse Table plans. Sometimes staging a vignette on it can be tricky though. A typical round-ish grouping doesn’t work well with the size and shape of the table.

Valentine's Decor

I kept my eye out for non-red Valentine’s decor and was able to gather some softer pink items to use in my February Tablescape. Both the pink ‘vase’ and the pink ceramic bowl were from the #TargetDollarSpot. The pink sparkly hearts were from Walmart’s seasonal section and only cost a couple of dollars. The sign was also found there.

DIY Valentine’s Decor

My favorite elements in this tablescape are the DIY parts. As I started piecing it together I decided that I needed something with height in the center. I love white ceramic pitchers for decorating. I have several of them in a variety of sizes and find that they are one of my go-to pieces, no matter the season. For this February Tablescape I chose to head outside and cut a few branches off of a dead plant, then cut some hearts out of white and ivory felt that I had on hand from a previous project. Not going to lie, I stole this idea from Pinterest! I love adding the natural element of the branches to the mix and think the sweet hearts are the key to making this vignette a Valentine’s vignette.

Coffee Filter Wreath

The other DIY element is the heart shaped #coffeefilterwreath. What better thing to add to my February Tablescape than this sweet wreath? I love how this wreath turned out! I thought about doing a DIY post just for this. It was so simple though that it doesn’t really warrant it’s own post. By the way, did you catch the fleece heart blanket draped over the chair? That is one of those impractical decor things I do that make my husband crazy. But I love the coziness it adds to the space.

Coffee Filter Wreath

I purchased a pink sparkly foam wreath from Walmart for $5.88, two packs of coffee filters and a bag of glue sticks. I gathered each filter in the center, cut off the bottom inch or so, then put a squirt of glue where I cut it and stuck it to the wreath. Simple, right? It really was. I have to admit that it was a time consuming project. In total it took me about five hours. At one point I thought I was never going to finish it, but I persisted and am so happy that I did. I love how feminine it is and how it adds to the neutral, more airy style I was going for.
