Happy Friday Guys!! It’s felt like Friday for three days now, so glad it finally actually IS Friday. Yesterday was the kids’ first day home and it definitely was not a vacation day for them. We had a family discussion Wednesday evening in which we (I) explained to them that they are not sleeping this summer away. They are to be up by 7:30, make their beds before coming downstairs and are to be to the barn to get their morning chores started by 8:00. They did great yesterday and I am proud of the work ethic and lack of complaining after a full day of chores and work. Hopefully it will last the summer and they will be better people long term because of it.
We have our first livestock show this weekend, a goat show. The first show is always tough – the animals have never been in the show ring before and the kids are still figuring out what techniques work best for each animal. You have to start somewhere/sometime though. Our goal is to get out to a lot more shows this year than we have in years past and with four species in the barn we realistically could be at a show every weekend if we choose. It’s a lot of work to get ready for the shows and the logistics of being gone is always a little stressful, but the quality time that we are able to spend together as a family while at the shows, as well as the quality people we are surrounding ourselves with, is irreplaceable.

We had a couple cooler days this week so I took advantage and sported some of my lighter weight cozies. This gray sweater from H&M wears really well and pairs with pretty much anything. This dress isn’t available currently, I’m sorry. I bought it from PinkLily.com and love it. I ordered it before our trip to Thailand. It doesn’t wrinkle when folded in a suitcase and is a lightweight material with a super cute racerback cut. There are lots of other cute dresses to be had at PinkLily though.
