Stith Fix Review

Today I have another Stitch Fix review to share with you.  I was planning on rounding up some 4th of July Sales with my highlights from each store, but instead I made spending time with my family a priority.  And I don’t have any regrets!

I spent some time working outside from the patio on Saturday and soaked up some sunshine… maybe a little too much, then spent some time in the pond with Kadie.  Yesterday I had to meet a family at the airport with a kitten they flew in to pick up.  I made a date of it and took Kadie with me.  She loved having the car ride up to play with the kitten and telling the people all about their kitten’s personality.  We stopped to look at patio furniture on our way home (a new mission of mine), as well as hit Old Navy and Target where Kadie scored big.  The best part was how appreciative she was of us spending the day together and all of the goodies she scored.  She sincerely thanked me at least half a dozen times.  I was feeling pretty proud for raising a kid with manners.  I can say this without feeling like I am gloating or being boisterous about my kid because as the school year ended she was not this kid.  She was generally unappreciative, entitled and had very little work ethic.  Dale and I have made a lot of changes to correct this.  The first couple of weeks were rough, but I am so proud to see her ‘on the other side,’ getting up early every morning on her own and to the barn where she is spending several hours a day working with her animals, followed by a lunch break and a shower before she heads to the cattery to spend another couple of hours socializing kittens.

Anyways!  Back to my current Stitch Fix box review.

How It Works

A quick recap on how it works in case you are new on the scene: When you subscribe to Stitch Fix you go through a set of questions where you provide your sizes/measurements for fit, select sets of clothing style boards to give the stylists guidance on your tastes and select how often you would like to receive a box.  You will receive five items to try on at home, decide what you like and send back the rest in the prepaid envelope.  If you send everything back you will be charged a $20 styling fee, which includes shipping both ways.  If you keep anything the $20 styling fee is subtracted from your total.  It’s a fun pick me up to receive a box of goodies to try out on occasion!

This Month’s Stitch Fix Box

First up is a combination outfit – both these Lila Ryan, Liza Distressed Skinny Jeans, $98, and this Goldray, Iria Shoulder Cutout Knit Top, $44, were in my box.  The jeans are a little on the thin side and do not have real front pockets.  The crux with white jeans – most that have pockets will have pockets that you can see through the outer layer of jean, but the alternative is no pockets and that is just annoying!  I was afraid that this pair was going to fit too loose from the knee down, but they actually weren’t bad.  A little look at the ankle, but I have pretty scrawny ankles.  I would question how these would wear throughout the day.  My guess is that they would tend to stretch out and not keep their shape.  Since I already have a couple, ok a few, pairs of what skinny jeans I opted to return these.

As for the top, it really grew on me.  Out of the box I thought ‘Eh, its ok.’  It’s a double layer of knit, so it is thick and a bit heavy, but I thought it fit and layed better than I thought it would.  I am generally not a fan of knit material garments.  I maybe wish this was a little less fitted, as I am not used to wearing tops that are tight everywhere, but I still think I like it quite a bit.  I’m not a fan of cold shoulder tops, but this tiny little cutout at the shoulder gives it great visual interest.  I’m sending my returns off later today and I’m still on the fence on this one, so if you feel strongly one way or another I would love to hear what you think!

I left the white jeans on and paired it with this 41 Hawthorn, Camilla Scallop Detail Button Down Top, $58.  First impression on this one was that it was interesting.  I’m feeling the blue color a lot lately and the scallop trim is darling.  It looked like it might have been a bit big at first, but when I put it on it fit perfectly.  I think it’s a super cute top, but definitely a bit louder/more overstated than what I would normally choose.  I do think this top is darling, but realistically could see myself wearing it only once or twice so decided to return it.

Lastly I combined this 41 Hawthorn, Eldora Dress, $68, with the Romolo, Anabella Ornate Stone Necklace, $34.  Both are very classy pieces.  I questioned how the dress would fit/lay, but it is very cute on.  It’s a great length and modest in it’s neckline with an interesting crisscross in the back.  I chose to return this dress, again because I feel it is a little too formal/dressy for my daily look and I know I would only get one or two wears out of it.  The necklace however, I chose to keep.  It is unique, as the outside rings on each stone are actually beads, as opposed to rhinestones.  I love the dusty pink color of the larger stones.  I can see this being a great addition to many outfits.
