When I set out on this blogging journey I did as much research on the topic as possible in an effort to find ‘success’ (readership). The number one, golden rule – Be consistent! Post on a set schedule so people know what to expect and will come back for more. Well, I’m failing at that right now. Sorry guys☹. When it was winter I was telling myself it would be easier to blog in the summer because I would be able to get more pictures outside and quality photos is of great importance for a successful blog. What I didn’t take into account was the craziness of summer and trying to juggle it all.
I’ve made the decision to put quality time with my kids first and I can’t say that I would change that. It kills me how fast they are growing up and I know that it is going to feel like a blink of an eye and they will all be gone from my nest. Making memories with them that they will look back on fondly is more important than a ‘successful’ blog, right? I do enjoy the creative outlet I get from blogging though, so I am trying to find that balance…
The hubs and I are currently in California for their State Fair wether goat show. The weather is pretty fantastic, the fruit is fresh picked and the company is as good as it gets. I’m missing my babes, but I am enjoying the time with Dale and catching up with friends that we only get to see once or twice a year.
Shop My Closet
Back to this week’s Shop My Closet post. For sizing reference, I am 5’2” and 105 pounds. I am not particularly curvy in any area. I wear an XS/0 in most tops and dresses and a 25/26 in jeans, depending on the brand. If there is an option for petite sizing I will generally go that route for the shorter length.
This sweet eyelet detail top from Lucky was a purchase from last summer/fall. I just got a pair of green skinny cargo pants that I can’t wait to share with you and this top would pair with them well. These fray-hem cutoff shorts are one of my go-to pairs this summer. They are super comfortable and don’t stretch out and try to fall off your butt as they day goes by.

I wasn’t planning on wearing this dress the day I wore it, but I did want to sit outside and work from my patio for a little while so I put it on so that I could soak up some sunshine and not have strap lines. However, the day got away from me and I never took the time to change. The perk of working from home – you can dress however you like. The wind picked up and the humidity dipped, making for a cool breeze that evening. This slouchy cardi was the perfect addition.
I love this new dolman sleeve top I picked up from Banana Republic a couple weeks ago (on sale!). It has a great drape to it and is the perfect length. Cute with skinny jeans and I think it would look great with a pair of green moto leggings. I’m thinking I need to add a pair of those to my closet…

These railroad shorts were possibly my best buy of the summer. They are super comfortable, like wearing a pair of pajama shorts, but paired with a nice top they dress up quite well. I do roll the waistband to keep them from being too baggy in the crotch area. I love these Sketcher shoes. They have the memory foam foot bed so they are super comfortable, but they are also classy. I somehow managed to get some oil/tar spots on them that I am fretting about trying to get out when we get back home. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
These jeans are BKE brand from the Buckle. I’ve had them for several years. This particular pair does not stretch out throughout the day. The peplum tank is super soft and I like the little pocket detail. I would ideally like it about an inch longer. Have you noticed that belly shirts seem to be coming into style? I hope that trend doesn’t last long!

Again, I apologize for my inconsistency posting. I hope you had a great week and have fun weekend plans!
