This weather guys, ugh! Spring seems to be refusing to come to central Illinois. I have a few plants in the landscape trying to make a debut, but every time I get excited that I can see a hint of green peeking through the dirt we get an inch or two of snow to stop it in it’s tracks. Really?!
Kadie’s first three track meets have been canceled because of weather. Her first was today and it was a whopping 45 degrees outside. My beach bag that two weeks ago was packed with spf 70 sunblock, snorkel gear and beach towels is now packed with blankets, gloves and winter hats for surviving track meets.
It’s coming though, warmer weather is coming. It has to be. The forecast is calling for 70 degrees this Thursday and Friday. I’m trying hard not to get my hopes up in case the forecast is wrong/changes, but I am super excited. I’ve put together some early spring looks that are great for the transition period when it still chilly in the mornings and early evening, but warm enough to sport shorts and soak up the warming rays during the day. How’s your early spring style? Have you broken out the shorts yet?
Floral Kimono
I’ve gotten a lot of use out of this sheer floral kimono that I picked up from Target a couple of months ago. I was hoping that it would work as a cover up, but wasn’t sure how well it would pair with most of my swimsuits. Not only was it the only coverup I used on our Thailand trip, but I have also styled it with jeans when we attended the Houston Stock Show and it works great over a long sleeved tee with shorts too; quite versatile!

Graphic Tee and Boyfriend Cardigan
This boho look is great for casual weekend adventures. I can see wearing this to go treasure hunting at a flea market or wandering through a farmer’s market. Relaxed, comfortable and cozy enough to keep you warm when the air is still crisp.

Blush Cargo Jacket and Slip-On Sneakers
Bookending this look with the cargo jacket and shoes gives it a put-together, polished look while still being casual and comfortable. The lightweight sweater and cargo jacket, as well as the close toed shoes will help keep the cold at bay.

Striped Top and Cardigan
I love this look. Even though the shorts are cutoffs this look is super chic. The softness of the color palate and the drape of the top and cardigan adds a richness that is somewhat unexpected paired with cutoff shorts.

Is it shorts weather where you are? What is your favorite go-to early spring style?
Happy Wednesday!
