Do you have any Mother’s Day traditions, be it between you and your mom or you and your kids/husband? I love holiday/family traditions and my kids are crazy about things having to be done according to tradition (some things I didn’t even realize was a tradition before they pointed it out). We don’t have any Mother’s Day traditions though. My mom lives in Colorado and Dale’s mom passed away several years ago. Today I’ve rounded up some personal and thoughtful Mother’s Day gift ideas to help you shop for your momma.
The Gift of Time
It seems like with each passing day time continues to slip away. I swear we lose a minute or two every day! Even living in the same town as your mom a lot of people will go weeks without seeing their mom/parents.
With that said the logical gift idea for Mother’s Day is to spend quality time together. I can imagine taking my mom to breakfast, followed by a trip to a nursery for some spring flowers and then helping her plant them. Since that isn’t an option though given our distance I have been on the hunt for a suitable second option.
Etsy, the Perfect Solution
Etsy, another thing I love. There is a lot to love about Etsy. First, it provides a voice for small businesses. Who can’t get behind that? Secondly, it has the cutest handmade items that are perfect for Mother’s Day gifting. I have rounded up a few of my top picks for you.
Amazon Sells Plants?!
Did you know that Amazon sells live plants? I had no idea. I spent a couple weeks searching for a faux Fiddle Leaf Fig. I was looking for a plant versus the tree form and wasn’t really finding any. On top of them not existing the tree forms are all selling for over $100! Maybe I’m being cheap, but that is more than I want to spend.
I came across a couple listing for live ones that looked great, but I was having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of shipping a plant. Those were also around $60. Not a terrible price, but not great when you know my track record with keeping plants alive (it’s not good).
Then I found this Fiddle Leaf Fig listed for $29.97 on Amazon. That’s a price I can justify. There was still the issue about shipping a plant and my skepticism of it arriving in good condition. But then I found a video review of someone unwrapping theirs upon arrival and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. If you watch the video review, beware of the voice over. It’s a bit crude. But the plant looks amazing. I’m sold, I ordered myself a plant! It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so we shall see… I’m thinking that if it arrives in as good of condition as I hope it would be a great Mother’s Day gift.
A DIY Gift Idea
Moms are supposed to love homemade gifts, right? In case you didn’t catch it, yesterday I did a post with a DIY tutorial on making a hoop wreath. It was a quick 30-minute project that only took $20 worth of materials. #win
In case you don’t have the 30 minutes to spare, but love the idea of gifting your momma or a sweet friend a hoop wreath here are a couple of my favorites on Etsy:
