Dale and I are Supercross fans. We have been watching the races for the past ten years and have gone out to the final race in Vegas several times. We talked about going this year, but then got busy and didn’t get the trip booked. Our 15th anniversary is coming up in a couple weeks so about ten days ago I told Dale that attending the final race was what I wanted to do for our anniversary. He didn’t balk at that idea!

Packing for Vegas can be a little bit challenging. You hate to pack too much, but you also want to make sure to cover your bases. There is such a variety of things to do in Vegas that dressing appropriately for several different venues can add several outfits to your suitcase. In addition, you should also think about temperatures. This time of year it is going to be pretty warm both day and night. However, the air will be cranked in the casinos and auditoriums so if you are always cold like me you should think about throwing a cardigan or wrap into your bag.
Day
Dressing for the day is generally going to be very casual. We walk a lot to take in the sights and do some good people watching so packing comfortable shoes is a must. These Sperry slip-on sneakers are cute, but also practical. We are staying at the Wynn this time and across the catwalk/skybridge to the other side of Las Vegas Blvd is a mall with lots of good shops! There are also all of the shops in The Venetian, which is just across the side road from the Wynn. I’m sure I’ll get at least a little shopping in!
Poolside
I love sitting out by the pool and soaking up the sunshine. Dale says he is allergic to the sun (he isn’t really). Between his affinity to the sun and his inability to sit still for more than five minutes I don’t get much pool time. It’s such great people watching though!! I’m hoping to get some morning pool time before it gets too hot and too crowded. #fingerscrossed
Night
How people dress at night ranges drastically. From the same cutoff shorts that were worn during the day to semi-dressy to super-dressy, plus a little bit of ‘oh wow, that is really interesting!’ I enjoy having an opportunity to get a little fancy. Dale would rather stay in the shorts and polo shirt that he wore during the day, but I usually can get him to change into jeans and a button-down shirt.
Our Plans
We are planning to catch a show tonight and Friday night. Cirque Do Soleil shows are my favorite. Especially Mystere. If you haven’t been to a show like this and you have the opportunity I would highly recommend it. Hopefully a little pool time and a little shopping, lots of people watching and Supercross all day Saturday. We will probably have to eat at least once, if not twice, at Grimaldi’s pizza for lunch and The Sugar Factory for breakfast. Dinner is what we usually struggle with in Vegas. We would like to eat somewhere nice, but have difficulty scheduling around a show and deciding which are really the nicer restaurants. So if you have any suggestions drop me a note in the comment section please! I am so excited about being warm for three days in a row. I think that is possibly what I am looking forward to the most.
