Do you have $9 to spare? If so I recommend spending it on the Japonesque Foot Smoother.
I discovered this foot smoother a couple months ago when my last model had to be retired to the waste basket. It’s actually surprising how long these things last. I’m on my third in over ten years! They last so long it seems when the one you have finally wears out replacing it with the same model is pretty much impossible.
I did look around at a few stores and wasn’t finding any that looked like they were going to be ‘good ones’ until I found this one at Target. I haven’t been the least disappointed in this one and actually have been pretty impressed with it.
As summer approaches as we start living in flip flops are feet are going to start drying out and getting rough. The key things I like about this foot smoother:
- The shape of the handle – it is easy to hold onto, not being too skinny to get a good grip.
- The texture/feel of the material. It is called ‘Velvet Touch’ for a reason. It has a unique, non-slip texture.
- The rasp side removes A LOT of callused skin without a lot of work.
- The pumice side smoothes over the area to leave a ‘clean’ finish.
The rasp (a mini cheese grater) really removes the callused skin quickly. The first time or two I used it I didn’t finish by going over the area with the pumice side and was left with kind of ‘jagged’ or roughed up patches. Once I figured out to turn the smoother over and go over my feet with the pumice side all was fixed. Also, the rasp side easily pulls out from the body of the smoother so that you can rinse the removed skin away. The first time used it I was thinking that there was going to be a build up of dead skin on the back side of the rasp (which would be in the center of the smoother) and that was kind of gross. However, this was not the case, thank goodness!
That’s all I have to share with you today! It’s a good little nugget of information though. If you decide to get one and give it a try let me know if you like it as much as I do!
