What a week it was! I struggled to get out of my workout clothes most of the week if I am being honest. I had a lot of scheduling, paperwork and prep work to get done in order to get some baby kitties sent to their new homes yesterday, including one beautiful F1 boy that is making a long trek to Russia.
I was also focused on some outside projects this week. I spent a couple mornings spraying weeds – so much fun, right? No, not really. I can’t believe the number of new weeds and their size that showed up since the last time I did this just three weeks ago. It’s a little discouraging! I spent most of last Sunday and part of Monday trimming back landscaping. And then any extra time I’ve been planning out building a large wall planter. I will be working on it this weekend and have hopes that it will turn out as good as I am envisioning. I found a picture of what I want on Pinterest, but there are not any instructions or plans that go with it. Keep your fingers crossed it goes well. If it does I will be sharing it with you next week,
Do you remember that we were having our roof replaced with a metal roof? Well… it’s FINALLY finished. And it looks. so. good!!! I love it even more than I thought I would. I’m dying to share it with you guys. But, we decided to replace the window trim and add shutters to the house. And the limewashing hasn’t been done yet, nor the painting of the little bit of siding that we have. I want you all to love it as much as I do and I know it will be easier to do once it is all done, or at least a little closer to done. I was told that the limewashing was going to happen this week, but they moved onto working on trim instead. So now it is supposed to happen next week…

Ok, enough with the life update. On with this week’s outfits. Like I said, it was a rough week for me to put real clothes on. I would have been happy in workout shorts and tanks, but I did manage to put real clothes on for at least a few hours each day. For reference, I am 5’2″ and 105 pounds. I am not particularly curvy in any area. I wear an XS/0 in tops and dresses and a 25/26 in jeans, depending on the brand. If there is the option of petite sizing I will generally go that route for the shorter length.
I’ve been resisting the knotted top trend. Partially because I have a hard time accepting that it has come into style again and partially because I’m not very good at making a cute knot! I also worry about stretching out and misshaping my shirts! This buttery soft floral top is the perfect length for knotting though so I gave it a go and I was happy with the outcome. What do you think? These black skinny jeans are the very best. I love how much distressing they have and their fit is extremely flattering.

These cargo skinnies are the ones I talked about in my Nordstrom post from Thursday. They are not part of the anniversary sale, but were too cute to pass up. They have a ton n stretch in them. I sized up to a 27 because they didn’t have 26’s. I was concerned that they might stretch out too much and get saggy by the end of the day, but that was not the case. The exposed hem detail is super cute.

We had some cooler weather blow in and I took advantage by wearing this sweater dress that I had picked up last spring. Cute, sporty and cozy – can’t go wrong. On another note – I have been craving comfort food this week. And when I make it for dinner my family is raving over it! We had chicken and dumplings, lasagna and another pasta dish this week and they all went over extremely well. I’m worried that our desire for these foods is a sign of an early or harsh winter to come! Like animals that instinctively know to store/prepare for bad winters. Crazy, right?!

Speaking of cravings, I’ve also been craving a good pair of heavily distressed boyfriend jeans. But I want a pair that are a low rise. Most are mid to high rise. If you have any suggestions please drop me a comment below! This peplum top comes in a few colors and is discounted pretty heavily.

In my opinion there aren’t many things more chic than a good pair of white jeans. This pair from Abercrombie is definitely my favorite pair that I own. Pairing them with neutrals really lets them be the focal point of the look.
