Happy Monday all! Only 22 days until Christmas – oh my. I hope you had a great weekend and got a little closer to being ‘ready’ for Christmas. I did some online shopping, so a little bit closer myself, but still feeling unprepared. Tis the season!
Today I’m excited to share Part II of my Holiday Home Tour with you, focusing on the secondary areas within our home.
The Entries
I’ve got a lovely (referred to by my husband as ‘grubby’) workbench that I picked up from a flea market a few years ago that graces our foyer. It has quite a bit of patina (aka grubbiness). I love it! And mostly I love having that space to decorate with the changing seasons. Last year I decorated this with all of the holiday trees that I have amassed over the years. This year it is home to my Christmas village. About three Christmas seasons ago I decided I was over my traditional Christmas village so I decided to give it a facelift! I painted all of the houses white or cream, then added snow or glitter to the roofs. I love how they turned out. I catch flack from my younger son that I ruined the village and made it boring, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I think it is quite lovely.
We live in the country and most country homes in this area never use their front door. It is no different at our home. Everyone enters through the side/garage entrance. In our house that brings you into a hallway that is flanked by our laundry room, powder room and kitchen. I built a narrow console table a while back in order to have a surface in this area that I can use to decorate for each season.
I picked up the ‘Merry and Bright’ sign from Home Goods this year. The sheet music star was a DIY craft party project from a few years ago. I have found a similar project by Grey Luster Girl in case you want to give it a try!
Bathrooms
Our powder room is pretty small, so the decor is kept pretty simple in this smaller space.
Our master bathroom has a cubby above the toilet that I have been meaning to install shelving into, but in the meantime it works well for displaying some larger decor vignettes. I also have a center cabinet between our two bathroom vanities that I like to decorate.
The Office & Laundry Room
I don’t do a lot of decorating in these spaces, but one simple vignette can make the whole room feel festive. I have a large countertop in my office amidst built-in cabinets and bookshelves. I use this space as my coffee bar on a regular bases and in the winter months I add a Hot Chocolate Bar. I have a mug for each of my kids with their initials on it, as well as one for myself. My husband is not much of a coffee or cocoa drinker. I also provide peppermint chips, caramel drops, regular chocolate chips and white chocolate chips for garnishing their cocoas.

Holiday Bedroom Decor
Because I decided to make a mini-forest in my bedroom this year I chose to kept the rest of the decor very simple.
I chose to omit ornaments on these trees. I love the simple beauty of this little corner. Frosted/flocked Christmas trees are my love language this year. I can’t get enough of them!
Pretty much everything you see in this space came from flea markets. The carousel ‘door’, the ceramic crocks, the galvanized bucket, the glass cloche, the rusty metal stool, the candlesticks and the vintage box. I love treasure hunting at flea markets! And the dresser? I found it on Craigslist and painted it to my liking.
I hope you’ve enjoyed Part II of my Holiday Home Tour. In case you missed it, you can see my Holiday Home Tour Part I HERE! Have you found any trees/decor in the blogosphere that you are dying to recreate? I would love to hear about them!
I love that you painted the houses to re-purpose them instead of finding different white ones. So cute!
