Hi Guys! It’s been a while (a long while) since I’ve done a Fitting Room Files post. I’m happy to report that we now have an Old Navy local to us, so exciting! I can go an hour north or south for Old Navy, but I seldom make those trips. However, Old Navy just opened their doors in my go-to town (30 minute drive). I’m excited to share this Old Navy try-on session with you today!
I kind of forgot how much I like Old Navy. They used to be my store. I would venture to guess that at one point 80% of my wardrobe was from Old Navy. I’ve gotten away from it in the past couple of years, but this try-on session reminded me that they have a lot of great stuff, usually at even greater price points. I did find that their pants/jeans sizing runs big. I even googled this to see if it was just me and found that it appears to be a known fact that Old Navy indeed has succumbed to ‘vanity sizing.’
As I was searching the Old Navy website to link the items I tried on I realized that everything is marked down right now, some of it as much as 40% off! So if you see something that appeals to you now may be the ideal time for some online shopping!
My Try-on Haul
Front and center when I walked into the store I was hit with a couple of coats that I thought were super cute. Did Old Navy somehow know that I had been struggling with finding the ‘right’ coat to wear lately??
This quilted sherpa-lined number was calling my name. It is available in several colors, but I was most drawn to the olive green option. The sherpa does add a bit of bulk to it (and warmth), but I thought it still offered a fitted silhouette. This jacket came home with me. It is currently marked down $10 online, plus another 30% is taken off at checkout!
Next up is this Soft-Brushed Button-Front Coat. As the name states, it is SO soft! I liked the cut and chic style of this coat when I saw it, but once I touched it I was sold, SO SOFT!
This tunic-length sweatshirt was a great addition to my Old Navy try-on session and is a great go-to piece that is super versatile. It was soft and cozy and not at all bulky. It’s a little longer in the back and easily covers the girly bits.
Old Navy Pants
I found several things in mustard yellow in the store, which I always seem to be drawn to. At first I kind of fought it, thinking that mustard is a fall color, not a spring color. But then I couldn’t resist and I ended up trying a few of them on, like this polka dot tank. This item seems to be pretty much sold out on the website, but in the store they had it available in multiple colors and prints. It has a pretty keyhole detail in the back. I also tried on these Rockstar distressed white skinny jeans. I am always on the hunt for a good pair of white skinny jeans. This is where I started to run into the vanity sizing issue. I wear a size 0 or 25 in most brands, but these 0’s were pretty loose on me. Definitely size down in their jeans.
I have been on the hunt for a good pair of boyfriend jeans for over a year. I think I struggle with what a ‘good’ pair is because the style itself is a little out of my comfort zone. I see them on other people and really like them, but then try them on and feel that they are just too frumpy for me. This pair looks like I think boyfriend jeans are supposed to look in the pictures, but in person they were way big. Like ‘size down two sizes’ big. If that were an option for me I think they would have ended up in the keeper pile.
Next up are these Pixie Ankle-Pants that I paired with this Luxe Tank. The tank is super soft and long and loose enough that it knots well. I LOVE the color of these Pixie pants. I tried them on in a size 2 because they didn’t have them in a size 0, so as expected they were a little too big. I also cuffed these because they were a little long on my 5’2″ frame, so a petite option would have been ideal.
I love these Cropped Linen pants. Like the Pixie pants I ended up cuffing them to shorten them up a little more for my petite frame. They will be a great piece for traveling. Throw on some slip on sneakers with this combo for a casual look or dress them up with a black satin top and a pair of black strappy sandals.
Old Navy Dresses
I wouldn’t generally think of Old Navy when searching for dresses, but this Old Navy try-on session proved me wrong. This ruffle trim dress is available in several colors and patterns. It has a clasp at the neck so that you could wear it closed with the keyhole effect if you choose. I liked this dress, but didn’t love it.
Up next is this Waist-Defined Striped Shirt Dress. I really like this dress. It has a conservative femininity to it that speaks to me. I think it is another piece that would be great for traveling. It hits me at the knee, which I prefer, but I noticed on the model online it hits more mid-thigh. It’s cute both ways. So depending on your length preference you may want to order it in petite for the shorter length. This is currently on sale on the Old Navy website for $26.
Last, but not least, is this Ruffled Ponte-Knit Sheath Dress. Isn’t she darling?! I like that it didn’t fit super tight and the ruffled detail is so feminine. It comes in several color/pattern options.
Well, what did you think? What was your favorite piece from this Old Navy try-on session? Anything calling your name? What do you think about wearing mustard colored clothing in spring?
