It’s Monday already, can you believe it? Where did the weekend go? We had some great weather here – mid 60’s with sunshine. It was fantastic.
If you caught Friday’s blog post you know that Tara had prom on Saturday and I was solicited to do hair and makeup for a couple sweet girls, in addition to Tara’s. It was fun to be a part of their important day.
When doing their makeup I started out by using Becca’s Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer. I found this product last month while Manette was visiting and we had our big shopping day. I’ve been using it consistently since then and have been really happy with the difference I can see with using it so I wanted to share it with you guys. In my opinion it is relatively inexpensive when it comes to makeup products and makes a visible difference, unlike many other products I’ve tried over the years.
This primer adds a radiance to your skin that is not over-the-top ‘I’m going clubbing,’ but rather is subtle and classy. It adds just enough of a glow to make you look a little more awake and youthful. I have not had any issues with the product causing break-outs and it goes on thin, absorbing into the skin without leaving any sort of heaviness behind.
No Makeup
This picture is 100% sans makeup. I wanted you to have a full understanding of my starting point. You may notice that my eyes are a little red around the lash line. This is from using Latisse to promote lash growth. It is pretty much a miracle product for adding thickness and length to your lashes. It does cause some redness for me though, but it is not noticeable when I have makeup on.
Becca’s Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer
In this picture I have applied the Becca Backlight Primer, but nothing else. It is hard to get a picture that catches the radiance.
This is one pump of the primer spread on my fingertips before applying it to my face.
Here is what is left behind afterwards. Can you see the illuminating shimmer all over my fingers? Isn’t it pretty?
Foundation
After applying the primer I follow up with either a pressed powder foundation (when I am in a hurry) or the Buxom ‘Show Some Skin’ liquid foundation that I apply with a beauty blender sponge. The foundations I use are not full-coverage foundations. You can still see my freckles through the foundation, but it is enough to help even out my skin tone.
*Side Note: Did you know you are supposed to wet your beauty blender before applying your foundation? I didn’t, I just recently learned it – from a 10 year old (thanks Callie!). I have been doing it wrong for years!! Wetting the sponge helps save a ton of product because the sponge has absorbed the water and therefore will not absorb the foundation. Duh, I should have known that! It also leaves you with a well blended, dewy finish.
Setting Powder
I follow the liquid foundation with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder.
I typically will do a little bit of contouring, then add blush and eye shadow before Mascara, but here I just added mascara.
Here is the first picture again with no makeup, side by side with the one where I have added the primer, foundation and setting powder.
And one more picture for you. This was taken on the first day that I used the Becca Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer. I commented about how I felt extra youthful that day, not realizing that it was the primer that was giving me the glow. I figured it was coming from within after having the huge shopping day with my BFF that I look forward to every year!
So what do you think? Are you interested in giving it a try?
