Hey guys, I’m excited to share with you what Manette and I found on our epic shopping day while she was here! It was a big day, as usual. We didn’t get as early of a start as I would have liked, but we made good use of our time. This is a long post, so you may want to grab a cup of coffee or a snack to enjoy while you browse!
Shoes
We started at DSW, where we spent almost two hours (#yikes). My mom used to call me Imelda Marcos when I was a kid because I have always had a love for shoes. I, of course, found some great shoes that I could not pass up.

I had compiled a list of a few specific things that I was looking for on this shopping trip. One of those things included a pair of nude heeled sandals with the perfect medium heel height so that they can be worn all day without discomfort. I did not find them then, but the next day when we made a run to Target for some birthday shopping I found these babies:
Once we hit the mall we stopped a Macy’s to check their shoe selection, again in search of those nude sandals. We didn’t find any there, but we did spy these crazy platform heels. I tried them on as a joke (I am a size 6/6 1/2 so can try on the display pair), but then decided that they were pretty cute with those pink jeans! I did not bring them home, however.

Before arriving at the mall we stopped at The Human Race for a new pair of running shoes. If you are a runner in the area I highly recommend this store. They give great service and take a lot of time assisting each customer to ensure they are getting the best shoe to fit their needs. I tried on a pair of Brooks, Saucony and the Mizuno Wave 14, which is what I ended up with. I was already running in a pair of Mizuno shoes, but I had bought too small of a pair and was getting some painful callouses forming because they were too small. I was able to pass that pair down to Kadie, my budding track star. I had known that you should size up in running shoes, which I had done, but only a half size. My new running shoes are a size 8! And they are super comfortable, yay!!
While at the Human Race we were also told about an outdoor shopping mall that was about twenty minutes further north from there that put the local mall to shame. If it were not blizzarding at that moment we would have headed north. Instead we decided to save that for Manette’s next visit.
Clothes
Our first try-on session was at H&M with just a few items. This shirt is a nice drapey material that hangs really nice, and it was only $20. I’ve said it before, but because of the inexpensive prices of H&M clothing I am willing to buy items that I may only wear for a season because I still feel like I get my money’s worth out of them. This top could be dressed up, but I also think it would be cute with cutoffs or even left unbuttoned as a sort of bathing suit coverup.
These shorts are not something that I would wear at home/to town (locally), but I think they will be great for our Thailand trip and any summer vacations that we may take. They are a dressier fabric and hang nice, but they are SHORT! I could not find them on H&M’s website, sorry.
Next up was a stop at Abercrombie & Fitch. I had seen a few posts on Instagram of white skinny jeans from here that looked like they fit well and were cute so I wanted to give them a try. I think white jeans are something that you are often always searching for that ‘perfect’ pair. White jeans are tough. I found a lot of other great stuff to try in addition too.
I tried this dolman tee, which I would tell you is a lightweight and very soft sweater, in an XS. I would have liked to be a little bit longer. I also tried the small, but then it got too wide.
This berry colored off the shoulder sweater is also super soft and drapes nicely. I picked it up in this color, as well as an off white. It is on sale for $25.
I tried these cutoff shorts in a size 24. They did not have them in 25’s, which would have fit better. These were tight on my hip bones.
These white super skinny jeans are a high rise and they are really high. Too high for my liking. They are cute otherwise though.
Harper High Rise Super Skinny Jeans
This pair of low rise super skinny jeans fit my body type better. I also like the ripped detail since I have two other pairs of white skinny jeans that are not distressed.
This peplum tank is on sale for under $15 and comes in an assortment of colors.
This wrap mididress is sweet. I like the neckline and the print of the fabric. It has pockets too! It is a little long on my petite (short) frame though.
I fell in love with these jammies as soon as I saw them and hoped that they would be as cute on as they were on the hanger. The slightly fitted cut of the top and the ruffled detail on the shorts makes for a feminine combination.

Our next stop was at Dry Goods. Years ago I would find all kinds of great clothes at Dry Goods, but have felt like the last year or two that hasn’t been the case. They redeemed themselves though! I found a lot of great stuff this trip! However, when I went to search their website to link the finds for you I was sad to see that they are redoing their website and basically do not have one at this time. Just a home page that states that the new site should be up in the fall. So if you have a Dry Goods close to you it may be worthwhile for you to stop in and check them out!
First up are these flutter shorts. I tried them in navy and olive, but decided I preferred the olive.
I am generally not a fan of the cold shoulder tops. I don’t consider this one, because it is more like spaghetti straps and looks like an off the shoulder top to me. I really like the weight of the fabric and the drape. I think this will be great for our Thailand trip.
These shorts are Eunina brand and were recommended by Nicole, the girl working at the store. She was right, they are great! I like that they fit your leg, rather than flaring out. I also like the peplum and tie detail on this top, another great vacation top.
These shorts are Flying Monkey brand. I was on the fence about them, so decided against buying them, but I do like them.
More shorts. These floral print high waisted shorts are a cute dressy option, but were just a little big for me.
I have been seeing this striped sweater/top all over Instagram and always love it. I was so excited to find it in a store and even more excited once I touched it and found out how soft it is!
You can never go wrong with stripes. And the extra twist front hem makes it even cuter.
This ruched dress is cute, but I recently bought this ruched tank dress that I know I will get a lot more wear out of and is made out of a higher quality material.
This black romper is a size small and was too big for me, but was darling.
Then there was this white romper, which I tried in an XS. I’m starting to like these, but am not fully on board yet. I’ll have to see them styled on Instagram for a few more months before I take the leap!
I almost didn’t try this floral romper on because I thought the print was questionable. I’m so glad that I did though. It is so flattering on. The sleeves are wide and sheer and the back clasps at the neck, but then is open. It is so pretty.
We also stopped at Sephora, but I think I’ll wait for another day to share that stop with you. I hope you enjoyed our finds. If you like these types of posts you can see another one here.
