Hi Guys!  Happy Friday.  Can you believe it is Friday already?  This week sure flew by.  The sad news is that yesterday was the summer solstice so we are now officially losing day length.  That makes me so sad!  In no time at all we will be hearing the cicadas singing/chirping, a sure sign that summer is coming to a close.  Do you have lightening bugs where you live?  We have them here in Illinois.  I lived in Texas when I was little and we had lightening bugs.  When we moved back ‘home’ to Oregon there were no lightening bugs.  It was a pleasant surprise for me to have them again when I moved to Illinois for college.  And june bugs!  Not that june bugs are a fun bug like the lightening bug, but they remind me of my childhood.  I saw lightening bugs in Kansas a couple weekends ago, but just saw my first Illinois lightening bug a couple nights ago.    Enough about bugs!

We had another embryo flush program this week.  Wednesday we artificially inseminated about twenty females and then Thursday and today we are flushing embryos from the donor females and implanting them in recipient females.  Thunderstorms and lightening during flush week causes a lot of stress to the females, which can cause the embryos to regress due to the high cortisol levels in the female.  And of course we had a massive storm roll in a couple nights ago that lasted a full day… Fingers crossed it didn’t stress the females too much.

We head to another livestock show this weekend.  Goats and sheep this time.  I’m not sure that the sheep are ready for a show yet, but we may just haul them there and get them through the stress of their first trailer ride to a show.  It will be a fun weekend spending time together as a family, as well as catching up with good friends.

Now for the outfit details.  For reference I am 5’2″ and weight 105 pounds.  I wear an XS/0-2 in dresses and tops and a 25/26 in jeans and shorts.  If petite sizing is an option I will often go that route for the shorter length.

I have this Madewell tank in three colors.  It is super soft, the v-neck is the perfect amount of plunge and I love the pocket and raw hem detailing (and it’s a great price at $19).  I wear a bra that criss-crosses in the back to avoid my bra straps showing.    I’ve told you about this sweater a few times already.  I have it in green and in this dusty pink.  They are my go-to sweater when I get cold in the evenings.

I’m totally loving this crocheted cami for summer.  The fitted empire waist gives it a little something special and the adjustable straps make it a piece that will work for all body shapes and sizes.  It comes in a dusty navy and an olive green as well.  These shorts are from last season, but I linked a similar pair.  They are a beautiful neutral clay color that pairs well with most anything.

I’ve enjoyed the heat this week and been able to dress accordingly.  While most people have been sweltering I opt to go sit on my deck to work so I can soak up some of the heat.  I’ll take it while I can!  This double layered cami is from a few seasons ago, but is so versatile that I can’t part with it.  I have linked a similar option.  As usual I am wearing my silicon strapless/backless bra that makes wearing these spaghetti strap/odd necklined camis a breeze.  These BlankNYC cutoff shorts are super flattering and comfortable.

This flutter sleeve top from Loft is easy-breezy.  I love the button detail, the fluttery cap-sleeves and the empire/babydoll waistline.  It pairs well with shorts or skinny jeans and can be dressed up a bit with a pair of heels. These shorts are from Old Navy and are on sale for $8, what a deal!  They are a great versatile summer staple that are comfortable and the perfect length.  They come in a variety of colors.

Another oldie, but goodie!  I am not even sure how old this dress is.  I’m thinking it could be close to ten years old.  I wear it a lot for going to the beach or when I know I am going to be in the sun quite a bit and want to avoid strap lines.

Last week I wore this cami with a high waisted skirt for an awards banquet.  When we got back home in the evening I took the skirt off and was looking for something comfortable to throw on for the remainder of the evening, not caring if I matched or looked decent.  These shorts were within reach so I threw them on because of how comfortable they are, but then I decided that they actually paired really well with this navy cami.  Both the cami and the shorts are priced at $18, so for $36 you’ve got a super cute summer outfit that could be dressed up with a pair of nude heeled sandals, statement earrings and a pretty clutch and worn out in the evening or dressed down with no jewelry and a pair of flat sandals or sneakers for all day comfort.
