What I wore this week, Shop My Closet

Hey there Stranger! Long time since my last Shop My Closet post.  I hope you have had a great end of summer break.  The last month sure flew by.  So much so that there was hardly time to come up for a breath, let alone keep up here. Sorry!  I’m refocusing, getting caught up on the not-so-fun grown up tasks of managing a household and laying out my calendar moving forward so that September will be back on track!  I’m super excited for fall – cozy sweaters, cardigans, boots and scarves.  They are all calling my name.  I’m also getting the itch to break out the fall decor… How about you?  Are you ready for it?

Things to Look Forward To

Dale and I are headed to Argentina, along with our herdsman and our embryologist, leaving this Sunday.  It is going to be a whirlwind trip to visit a couple cattle farms/ranches to pursue a new venture… Our embryologist resides in Canada, but is from Argentina.  I’m excited to have him as our tour guide and translator.  Definitely thinking we will be headed back there with the kids for more exploring sooner than later.

Our summer was so crazy that we did not find any time for a family vacation.  Our kids have a four day weekend over Columbus day the first week in October, which also happens to be my birthday weekend.  We are planning to use that long weekend for a short getaway.  We haven’t decided where yet.  I lean towards something like a National Park where we can do some hiking and appreciate nature, possibly the northeast where the fall colors may be in swing or possibly somewhere like the red rocks of Arizona.  Dale is leaning towards a beach, maybe Clearwater.  We are open to flying or up to a 4-6 hour drive.  If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them!

My sister is due at the end of September with her first baby.  We are hoping to get out there to see them and meet the new baby shortly after he is born.  If we aren’t able to make it out right away we will definitely be in their neck of the woods the week after Christmas for the Arizona National livestock show.

Shop My Closet

Alright, now that you are kind of caught up on the life updates let’s get back to this week’s Shop My Closet post.  To be completely honest, these outfits are from last week.  But I was still so deep under water after being away for two weeks that I didn’t have time to get this post up.  Our weather has been a bit wonky.  92 and super humid one day and then in the 70’s and rainy the next.  I enjoyed dipping into some fall-ish tops when the weather permitted.

For reference, I am 5’2″ and weight 105 pounds.  I wear an XS/0 in tops and dresses and a 25/26 in jeans, depending on the brand.  If I have the option for petite sizing I will generally go that route.  I am not particularly curvy in any area.

I bought these faux-leather moto leggings during the Nordstrom anniversary sale and have been waiting to break them out!  If you haven’t tried the Spanx faux-leather leggings, they are AMAZING! One of the first blog posts I ever did was a faux-leather legging review, which you can see HERE.  Hands down, the Spanx version was the clear winner.  They are super flattering, hold everything in tight and they breath, unlike many of the faux-leather leggings out there.  I would say that they are an investment, but after trying several other pairs it is one that I feel was well worth it.  In case the moto style are a little out of your comfort zone I have also linked the plain pair.  I sized up one size and was glad that I did.  I think an XS would be so tight that they are uncomfortable.

This lightweight sweater from H&M is a pretty green color and is super soft.  I love the almost monochromatic look paired with these black jeans.  These jeans, by the way, fit so well and are so comfortable.  They are not high waisted, which I prefer, and they have the perfect amount of stretch.  They are a thicker material and are a super saturated black.  They will be on repeat for sure for the next couple of months at least.

This is one of the tee’s from last week’s Try-On session at Target.  I sized up to a small for a looser fit.  Cute pocket detail and the burgundy colored stripes will be great for fall.  I can see it paired with a camel colored cardigan and some Hunter boots.  I love the sporty look of it with these New Balance sneakers.  I believe this is my first pair of New Balance shoes, but I am in love with this pair!  Kadie actually picked the same exact pair for herself and Chase ended up with the same style in a merled black and white combo.  I’d like to wear mine every.single.day!

Who doesn’t need a great pair of white jeans?  This is my favorite pair of the fthree pairs I own.  The fit is great, I love the distressing and frayed hem and they are thick enough to hide lumps and bumps and not be see-through – WIN!  We aren’t going to count the number of striped tops in my closet.  There is no such thing as too many striped tops, right?  Right!

I am in love with this new camo jacket!  The muted color and the more fitted style give it a relaxed, yet chic vibe.  I sized down to an XXS because that was all that was left in stock when I ordered it.  I figured there was a good chance that I would have to send it back, but I was willing to take the chance.  Destroyed boyfriend jeans have been calling to me lately.  I’m still on search for the perfect pair.  This pair is high waisted, which is not my favorite, but otherwise I really like them.
